It is with sadness that I inform you of the death of Mr. Colin Pickvance who passed away this morning Wednesday 20th March 2019. Many of you will recall how Colin supported our team over the years and whose company it was always a pleasure to be in. I have no information at present on the funeral arrangements.

Message from the captainHello Team Members
For your information here is an extract from the Rules for 2019. These alterations have come about as a result of a proposal put forward by our Bowling Club to the League AGM which was held in February, and due to the position we find ourselves in having 3 teams in the same league. They are self explanatory and will help us in fielding full teams each week. No doubt Glyn, Carl and myself along with Judy will have a Captains meeting in order to outline exactly how this will work in practice and in order to be fair to all. Will keep you updated in our team meetings. I hope you have all wintered well and look forward to seeing you in the not too distant future. Martin |

Extract from League Rules. 2019
(c) Players will normally play for the team for which they are registered with the League. However, when a team suffers a player shortage it can borrow a player (subject to his or her Captain's approval) from another team in the same Club. Such a player may be borrowed up to four times in a season. Players must be borrowed from a team in a lower Division or in a lower position in the same Division.
(d) Players will not be permitted to play on the same green on the same day.
(ii) Declaration.
No match will start unless both teams have at least 8 players present and available to play at the official start time. The match will be cancelled and the home club to report the matter to the Management Committee to be dealt with, as soon as possible. The full complement team captain may choose which two players he wishes to withdraw.
Up to the start of play in any match, the respective Captains shall declare their full teams including any reserves and substitution will not be allowed after the stated 30 minutes scratch time. A player in a declared team who is not present at scratch time will be considered an absentee. In the case of absentees a score or 21-0 shall be awarded to the opposing side and the opposing player shall be awarded 21 – 11 win for league average purposes.

2018 Season
Hello Team Members,
Once again we have completed our bowling summer within the Senior Citizens Bowling League. We enjoyed lovely weather this year basking in gorgeous sunshine and taking part in competitive, yet friendly matches in the great company of our fellow players from various teams. On behalf of Alan, John and myself we would like to thank you very much for your company and support this year . We have had a good year finishing 7th in the League, we are a steady team and I believe represent our Club in a very positive manner ensuring that all visiting teams feel welcome and that they leave each match having had a lovely afternoon. Congratulations to Phil and Alan for their efforts this season in finishing 1st and 2nd in our team averages. As a consequence they represented our team in the Senior Citizens League Averages Finals Competition at Bryn Newydd at the end of the season, unfortunately they were both beaten in very close matches early on in the competition. Once again we thank Julie for looking after us all so well during home matches with her very kind efficient and friendly service at the tea bar when playing home matches. Thank you very much indeed or behalf of the whole team Julie. As Captain I would also like to thank Cameron, who ensures that the results are input on the league website at the end of each home match, big thank you to you Cameron. Hopefully we will have Neil back with us next year on good form and we welcome Peter Shaw to our numbers, wow young blood in our team!!! we hope you have a great 2019 season with us Peter. I hope you all have a happy and healthy Autumn and Winter 21018/19 and look forward to seeing you in late November or early December for our end of season lunch. Details of which I will circulate in a few weeks time direct to your email addresses. Very Best Regards to you all Martin Team Captain. Well team we have just had our best result of the season, 11 - 1 can I say well done indeed for a great team effort. Especially to Barbara, Hazel, Cameron and luckily myself for managing very good victories over their top four players. Many congrats to the rest of our team for ensuring good results and giving us our best win so far. Lets go to Eirias Park next week on a high and keep up the good work.
So good to see Neil at the green today and hopefully he will be fit and ready for action next season. Look forward to seeing you next week if not before. Very Best Regards Martin 21st August, 2018 |
